Cake Poker

Cake Poker's journey started in 2004 when a small team of passionate poker players set out on a mission to design a better poker site. Today Cake Poker is the 9th to 11th most popular online poker site for ring games. It has gained popularity thanks in part to one-of-a-kind promotions, generous rewards and one of the most lucrative referral programs in the industry.

Sign-Up Bonus

  • 100% up to $500
  • 16.67 FPPs are needed for each $1 in bonus money (each point accumulated is worth $0.06)
  • Bonus released in increments of $10
  • Bonus expires after 90 days

1 FPP is awarded to each player at the table for each $1 in rake taken from your table. Fractional points are also counted. For example, if your table rake is $0.75, you will receive 0.75 FPPs. For each $1 in tournament fees, you will earn 7 FPPs.

Limits and Rake

The limits at Cake Poker start at a micro $0.02/$0.04 for No Limit Texas Holdem and increases in steady increments to $50/$100 (No Limit) and $100/$200 for Fixed Limit Texas Holdem. The Omaha tables begin at $0.10/$0.20 and move through to $5/$10. The low limits are skewed towards beginner play, however with such a wide variety to limits available (especially at the Texas Holdem tables), players are sure to find the right limit level for their style of play.

Cake POker implements the 'no flop, no drop' policy, meaning no rake is taken if no flop is seen in a given hand. The rake at Cake Poker is generally set at 5% of the pot and as always, is raked in slightly different increments depending on pot size, number of players involved and limit level. No Limit Texas Holdem through to $10/$20 is raked at 5% up to $1 for 2-3 players, a maximum of $2 when 4-5 people are involved in the pot and a maximum of $3 when six or more players are involved. The rake is capped at a maximum of $5 and this is only reached in the high limit tables when more than three players are involved in the pot. The rake is reasonable at the low and micro limits.

Player Traffic

Cake Poker is part of the Cake Poker Network and as such, attracts close to 2000 players during peak times. Player traffic is focused heavily around the micro to low limits, although there is some action to be found at the mid limits. At the time of writing, high limit cash games were scarce. Although most traffic is concentrated at the Texas Holdem tables, there is significant action at the Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo tables.

Playability

As mentioned, Cake Poker uses its own software client. As such, the Cake Poker experience is typified by a fast refresh rate and smooth action. The lobby details all the poker tables quickly and one button searches help narrow the list to find the game and limit desired. The lobby doesn't feel cluttered, with all relevant options such as cashier, rewards and help simply one click away.

The tables themselves run very quickly with limited animation. This keeps the games moving quickly and makes multi-tabling easy as each table doesn't hog system resources. Players can select from a selection of photo-realistic avatars and player stats, notes and info is tabbed below the table for quick access. The cards are fairly large, vibrant and easy to distinguish. Occasionally play slows when starting a new hand, but it's nothing too dramatic. Overall Cake Poker offers a stable, straight forward online poker experience.

Software and Extra Features

Cake Poker has some useful software features that complement the playability of their tables. These include:

  • Four Color Deck – Distinguish the cards even more with this feature.
  • Hand History – Instant access and detailed description of play.
  • Player Notes – Create detailed notes and even define players with one of eight pre set players types.

Customer Service

A comprehensive online FAQ is complemented by efficient customer support through email. Responses were legible, accurate and timely
